DMY annually highlights the most exceptional works in contemporary product design. The DMY Award winners are being selected from a group out of ten projects, nominated by the international festival jury among all festival contributions. This year’s jury is composed of designers Jurgen Bey (Makkink&Bey), Jerszy Seymour (Seymour Design Workshop), Werner Aisslinger (Studio Aisslinger), Hella Jongerius (Jongeriuslab) and Patrick Reymond (atelier oï).
The selection of nominees shows a very diverse picture acknowledging interesting, out of the box approaches rather than just their final results. The range oscillates between the formally straightforward and playfully modifiable; objects with a crafted identity; poetic and hilarious socializing spaces; narrative and even disquietingly dominating sculptures.
The three winners will be selected by the festival jury during on-site exhibition visits, followed by an evening Award ceremony. In the course of the event, the winners of the Ikea Foundation Design Contest 2010 will be announced.
