Celebrating our 10th anniversary, the jubilee edition of the International Design Festival will anew take place at Airport Berlin Tempelhof from June 6 to 10. Over 500 designers, firms and institutions will introduce new products, prototypes and material innovations. Next to market-ready, serial products, the showcases shed a special light upon the processes and concepts that led to the final designs. Over 20 design schools and universities will give insights into current design research and its latest accomplishments.
Moreover DMY will host the official German Design Award "Designpreis der Bundesrepublik Deutschland" for the first time in 2012. The Prize is considered as Germany's most prestigious design award. It is awarded by the Ministry of Economics and Technology since 1969 honoring excellence in product and communication design. For the first time, all submissions will be exhibited at Airport Berlin Tempelhof during the DMY International Design Festival from June 6 to 10.
Reflecting current and future trends, a symposium, designer talks and lectures will additionally offer the possibility to discuss and learn about emerging design practices. Supplementing the central exhibitions at about 50 galleries, museums and open studios will invite the festival visitors to 'satellite' showcases throughout the city.
