In German, “Pecha Kucha” sounds rather like a warped generic term for Asian confectionary products. Actually, the term describes a type of presentation format. Its origins possibly derive from the Neogerman of the so-called digital Bohemians, but certainly has its roots in a small Finnish jazz club (and even there you will probably find someone who already found the idea hip when all the others were still creating interior design in their nappies) and it is - indeed! – a rather refreshing, not to say entertaining concept. A presentation lasts 20 x 20 seconds, meaning that the PowerPoint page or slide show changes after 20 seconds, and those who cannot cope are flung into the adjacent Spree with weighs tied to their feet - for instance. Within the framework of DMY, Pecha Kucha therefore means the following: the Glashaus on the Arena site offers sufficient space for a dozen or so speakers who were curated by the DMY authorities, and who will hold lightning presentations on a great variety of different themes. Marco Riedel, Til Behnke, Niklas Roy, Oskar Zieta, John von Ascheraden, Steffen Bärenfänger or Tamara Pallasch are some of the names featured in the (still) provisory line-up. Thematically speaking, the event will probably present itself as a wild mix of information about interior architecture, presentations of new Web 2.0 projects, an exposé about endless loop vinyls, furniture design, an “Appeal to Attention” and many other subjects. The soirée begins at 9:20 PM sharp, admission is 40 minutes prior – and even if it all sounds a tad nerdy, we know from experience that the content will be mostly highly interesting. And funny, of course - latest at the Aftershow Party with Exsample (normoton).
