Within the past 30 years Taiwan grew from a purely production-based economy to a location with its own product development. In the design field there is a strong interest to forbear from mass production and gravitate towards quality-oriented production. This was not least due to an innovative economic and development policy, which culminated into a national program for the development of a knowledge-based economy.
Similarly, the industrial value of innovative design has been recognized and an initiative for design awareness was started, which The International Cultural & Creative Industries Exhibition in Taipei is part of.
Thanks to these factors, great interest in German quality design exists in Taiwan, which was expressed by the high resonance the DMY Berlin group show received at the Taipei fair.
As with the Taiwan Design Expo, the DMY Berlin show took place in cooperation with the Taiwan Design Center.
